UTWS5 continues the shape of UTWS3 in appearance, but in order to facilitate the distinction, some details have been changed. The "FiiO" Logo of the charging box has been changed from ordinary silk screen printing to "nickel dispensing", and the visual effect is more three-dimensional and eye-catching. The Logo color on the ear hook has also changed from white to gold. UTWS5 still provides versions of MMCX and 0.78mm interfaces, the latter will have a little time to market. Compared with the fine-tuning in appearance, UTWS5 has undergone tremendous changes. The most important upgrade comes from two places, one is the upgrade of Bluetooth chip to Qualcomm QCC5141, and the other is the addition of independent DAC chip AK4332. The QCC5141 is based on the latest Bluetooth 5.2 specification, and more importantly, it supports Qualcomm Snapdragon Sound, which is Xiaolong listening technology, which makes UTWS5 support aptX Adaptive wireless coding technology and can play 96kHz/24bit high definition audio. AptX Adaptive we have specifically introduced before, it combines the advantages of aptX HD with high bit rate and high sound quality and aptX Lossless with low bit rate and low sound quality, and can adaptively adjust the sound quality and delay after the device is connected.

QCC5141 also brings TWS Mirroring (true wireless mirroring) technology, which enables the two earrings of UTWS5 to be flexibly switched when in use: for example, one of the earrings has low power, or the user puts the main ear into the charging box, or in the case of poor radio frequency connection, the technology can ensure that this switching is automatic and seamless, and the user cannot feel it, but will have a stable and reliable wireless sound experience.

UTWS5 is also the world's first independent (external) DAC Bluetooth earhook. Other similar products use integrated chips. It can be said that Feiao uses the player architecture on an earhook product. UTWS5 is still equipped with a larger charging box with a large aluminum alloy cavity, which can accommodate headphones of different sizes and UTWS5 at the same time. The wearing stability of TWS headphones is one of the key factors that affect the use experience. I use FD7 to connect with UTWS5 for wearing experience. First of all, its comfort is good, the light nano coating on the surface has a delicate touch, and the memory metal in the earring has good flexibility. After wearing the earphone, it can also easily adjust the earring to make it more compliant. The presence of the ear hook is not stronger than that of the wired earphone when worn around the ear, and its weight is evenly distributed, which will not make people feel that there will be obvious pressure somewhere in the ear.

In terms of stability performance alone, the ear-mounted design surpasses most TWS earphones. Of course, in terms of weight, the combination of UTWS5 + FD7 is still heavier than TWS headphones, but I think it is acceptable. Going out of the street and commuting will not bring obvious burden. I also try to wear this combination when jogging, the overall stability is still excellent, and people will not have the urge to adjust it. UTWS5 has IPX4 standard waterproof design, so it is no problem to cope with sweat during sports. However, considering that the headphones matched with UTWS5 may not have waterproof effect, and most of the headphones matched with UTWS5 are HiFi headphones, I guess listeners are still reluctant to use it during exercise.

I used UTWS5 with FD7 and found Xiaomi 11 Ultra, which supports aptX Adaptive, to connect it via Bluetooth. In the Bluetooth interface of the mobile phone, you can see that UTWS5 will follow the words "aptX Adaptive". If you connect to UTWS5 with a mobile phone that does not support aptX Adaptive, it will work under aptX by default.

FD7 has relatively high impedance in Feiao's in-ear earplugs, but UTWS5 drives it easily. FD7's sound field performance, which left a deep impression on me during the previous audition, can be better displayed when matched with UTWS5. Although the vastness of the space converges slightly, the shape is still well maintained, the sense of hierarchy is clear, and the positioning is accurate. In terms of sound style, UTWS5 will not bring extra "seasoning" to FD7, and the original sound characteristics of headphones can be better presented. In the middle and high frequency parts of FD7, when paired with UTWS5, its vocal moisture and reducibility are good, full and vivid, and the suppression of dental sounds remains at a high level. High frequency has a relaxed and clean sense of hearing, and its extensibility is also maintained at a good level. Although the filling degree of details is slightly discounted, it does not affect the expression of sound charm. The low frequency maintains good elasticity and a certain depth of diving. The sense of quantity is not large, but it is enough to set off the music atmosphere.

Even if you pay special attention to the anchor's mouth in news programs, UTWS5 can ensure that the sound and picture are consistent.
