After weeks of testing, listening, and comparing, I can confidently say that the FiiO JM21 redefines what an entry-level Android DAP can deliver. At first glance, it might seem like just another $200 player—but the experience proves otherwise. Every aspect, from build quality to sound, shows that FiiO didn’t cut corners. The solid, premium-feeling body, the vibrant screen, and the thoughtfully placed buttons make it feel like a much higher-end device. Even the hardware—dual CS43198 DACs and balanced amps—demonstrates that performance was prioritized over cost-saving measures.

The sound signature is where the JM21 truly shines. The bass is neutral yet impactful, controlled, and textured, offering musicality that rivals some TOTL $400 dongles and DAPs. The mids are effortless and organic, with a richness and clarity that make vocals and instruments feel lifelike. The treble—smooth, natural, and slightly warm—ties the entire spectrum together without ever being fatiguing or harsh. I can listen for hours without my ears tiring, which is important for someone with sensitive hearing like me.
