FIIO M33 R2R Review: A More Musical Take on the Modern Android DAP
The M33 R2R does not chase exaggerated width, and it is better for it. Its soundstage feels proportionate and believable, with enough space to avoid congestion and enough depth to give recordings a pleasing sense of structure. Rather than spreading everything out for effect, it keeps images anchored and stable, which suits its generally composed presentation.
Depth is a stronger quality than outright expansiveness. Layering is handled well, and the player does a good job of placing voices and instruments in an orderly way without sounding clinical. Complex material remains easy to follow, not because the M33 R2R dissects it aggressively, but because it organises the mix with a calm sense of control.
