7. QX11 desktop mode and independent power supply port

What is desktop mode?

Desktop mode is a mode we designed to extend product lifespan (by reducing battery usage) and increase output power and driving capability. Many later new products have adopted this mode.

On the QX11, after desktop mode is turned on, the hardware activates four op-amps for parallel current expansion, and the QX11's power, or driving capability, will be greatly improved. The function of the independent power supply port is that after it is connected, the QX11 is powered directly from the power supply port, while also reducing the battery consumption of the phone, which helps extend the phone's battery life.

Is it necessary to turn on desktop mode for normal use?

Of course not. Whether to turn on desktop mode can be decided based on personal listening preference, combined with the QX11's heat generation and the degree of phone battery consumption. This is a more customizable function.

How to turn on QX11 desktop mode?

The D.MODE switch is the desktop mode switch.

When switched to ON, desktop mode is turned on, and the device's power and gain will increase, providing greater driving capability. It is suitable for high-impedance headphones and devices that are difficult to drive.

When switched to OFF, desktop mode is turned off, and it is suitable for normal listening and low-impedance, easy-to-drive headphones.

The power comparison with desktop mode on or off is as follows:

QX11 independent power supply port

The QX11 is equipped with two Type-C ports. The USB port on the bottom is used to connect to phones, tablets, computers, and other devices. The orange port on the side is dedicated to external independent power supply. When an adapter is connected to the independent power supply port, the QX11 will unleash stronger performance and driving capability while not consuming the phone's battery.

The independent power supply port has power priority. When the independent power supply port is connected, the QX11 will no longer draw power from the phone, but will be powered by the independent power supply port. A 5V/1A power supply is recommended for the independent power supply port.

Can desktop mode be turned on when the QX11 is not connected to external power?

Generally speaking, when used with Android phones, the iPhone 15 series, or computers, desktop mode can be turned on without external power. When used with other Apple devices, external power is required to use desktop mode.

Can the QX11 reach 800mW output when desktop mode is turned on without external power?

Without external power, as long as the USB port can supply sufficient power, it can still reach 800mW. (We have tested that some Android phones can meet the power supply requirements.) When the USB port cannot supply enough power, desktop mode will automatically exit. (The D icon on the screen will not be displayed.)

Can external power be connected when desktop mode is not turned on?

Yes. When both the main port and the side port are connected to USB, power will be supplied from the side port first.
